1) Walking to The Warehouse, Northlands in pouring rain!

2) Searching to find the perfect gift

3) Walking back to school in the pouring rain!

4) Wrapping and preparing for the pick-up meeting with Kylie from Ronald McDonald House.

All this on the last days of school.

Awesome achievement guys!

A cup of citizenship

Last night on the 16th of December 2013 , the Casebrook intermediate prize giving was held at Papanui high. There, I Nikhil Prakash won the year 7 citizenship award for boys. Cara won the girls citizenship. When my name was called, I had a major shock! I was never expecting it! I was full of joy, but I had to contain it since I was on stage. It was a wonderful and surprising night.

Burning blue - A Book Review by Jacqui

Burning blue is a really good book that I read in the weekend and is set in New Jersey,USA.
It's about two people (mainly) who live In Two different worlds, really.one of them is a poor boy called jay ,who is an amazing 'hacker' . His dad is an obese art critic who doesn't earn much, and his mother died in the car crash they were in a couple of years back, hence why jay has to work at a warehouse called bj's part time, where he stocks and works out back. The other main character is a rich girl called Nicole, who has won many pageants and people think she's going to miss New Jersey! Her parents are split up and she lives with her mum,but sky pets her dad and has 'dates' with him every so often.
She has a boyfriend, the lead wrestler for brandywine hollows high school, Dave.after being late for a period hanging with Dave in the hallway,a 'recluse' squirts her face (one side of) with acid and jay vows to himself that he would find who did it,with the help of an old 'friend' called Angela, who he finds out is also a hacker. But the recluse is not who you think it is

Motorbike Crash

On the 23rd of November I crashed my kx85. I was going way too fast over a jump when the bike tilted forward. I then tried to pull the front up and succeeded but when I came down I accidentally opened the throttle right up. Because my bike is 2 stroke it has a powerband, so when I came down it hit the power band. It had so much power I couldn't control it and went straight over the next corner. When I hit the dirt I was winded had a sore foot sore knee and a sore wrist. I then had to walk back 175 metres back to the truck. We then went home to take my motorcross boots off and to change my top. We then went to A&E and by that time my ankle and calf became one. Then on Sunday the bruising was massive. I have to miss out on 3 to 4 weeks of motobiking.

Ashburton Athletics

On the 29th of November there was Athletics on at Ashburton. Everyone had to get to school by 7:00 in the morning and meet in Mr. Russell's room (room 13). At 7:15 we got onto the bus to start our long journey to Ashburton. We had a bit of a restless bus ride but we got there eventually. Most of the time Izzi was playing on her phone because she can be anti-social at times.

Yakkety Yak Performance

Today, a group of performers from NASDA performing arts came to Casebrook Intermediate to perform "Yakkety Yak". It was about how everyone has talent inside them what people can do.

I would give this performance a 4 and a half stars for originality and great acting. If you were to go to this, you can expect singing, dancing and laughter. To me, the age for this show would be 13 and under. What I loved about the performance was the actors were animals (because to me, it added a extra level of entertainment) and how they made their own version of songs. My favourite character was the tiger because she was a powerful singer and a gifted actor, but everyone did exceptionally well.

I would definitely recommend spending your money on this incredible performance .

Yakkety Yak Review

Yakkety Yak review
By Joseph Bull

I thought  Yakkety Yak was fantastic  because it was really funny and it had a good moral to the story. My favourite was Mayor Merkat aka 'Steve' because he was really funny and he was a good rapper.

I would give it  *****

NASDA Yakkety Yak Performance

The NASDA yakkety yak performance was really, really good and that all the actors were all very talented at playing their parts. I think they were amazing in the aspect that they never ever even slightly went out of character. The way that they changed the songs around to fit in with the show, and the fact they did it all themselves made it even more enjoyable. It's sort of hard to believe that they based it off the rainbow fish, seeing as everyone enjoyed it so much being our age. I liked how they didn't use any props but instead their bodies and how all of them were so full of energy, which showed that they enjoyed it as well. I think if I had to pick the best actor I would probably pick the tiger, because you could tell that she tried really hard in all that she did on the stage. I would definitely see it again and it is most certainly worth spending money on to watch.

My casebrook visit.

Hi I'm Caitlin today I have come to look around your school and decide if your school is the best. So far I have been to the library and thought it was was a nice and quiet place to be.then I went to room 5 I thought it was friendly and interesting class. I went to a couple of other classes and they were bright and colourful. Currently I am at a little country school called weedons, and looking forward to moving to a bigger school. The art, tech and music room all look like good classrooms.and if I had to rate your school on a scale of 1-10 I would easily give you a 10!

Festival Choir

Stepping into the CBS Ariena with about 2 hours a head of us and only being able to drink water.
It was long so by the end of the practise I was quite tired.
Hours later traffic was a nightmare. You could not imagine it. It was a great idea to get out of your car and walk.
There was a lot of people there and it was kind of creepy having the screen right behind for more people to look at.
I really enjoyed it, it was a nice way to meet new people and get out of sports. (Don't tell anyone I said that...)

Northwood fair

On Sunday,  some of my family and friends (including me) had a stall at the northwood fair. We have a group called K.I.A (which stands for Kids In Action) and what we do is we fundraise money for charities.
At the fair we sold charms, pendants, soaps, cracked walnuts, and guess the amount of jellybeans in the jar.
For this project we are fundraising money for smiles, which is through worldvision, the only difference is that you can choose what you donate, for example say you have $40, you could then buy a goat for someone in Africa.
In the end, we raised $150 in profit, so we restocked a medical clinic, made a water pump, and gave someone a mosquito net (all in Africa). :)
In the end I thought we did pretty well, and hopefully saved some lives along the way.

Caitlin N's Jazz Dancing Exam

Last weekend I did a jazz dancing exam and it was probably the hardest exam ever! The level was SLS and that stands for Stretch Leap and Spin.
We haven't got our results back yet but the grading is out of 5 stars. I really hope I get either a 4 or 5!
I practised every day in the holidays and I think I did really well.
I got a banner and this is what it looks like...

New World little shop swap

For casebrook challenge I am planning and organising a little shop swap day.
I got the idea from the swaps that I am doing during class, and with my family and I thought how cool would it be to organise a day were the school could swap their little shops.
So I made posters, and with some help from  Mr Leith, got it into the school notices.
It is going to be on the 31st ( Thursday ) oct. I' m REALLY looking forward to the day and hoping we will do lots of swaps!!!!!!

The Rotary Speech Finals

On Wednesday night I went to Breens Intermediate in the rotary speech finals. We arrived at 8:00 just in time to hear the first speech. There were 5 categories, each one was a year level. The levels were from year 4 -8. There were five people in each category . The people in the category of the person that was speaking were sitting on the stage waiting for their turn and once all five of those people had spoken they went down and the next category came up.I  was sitting near the back of the hall watching the speeches. There were funny ones serious ones and some that were pure nonsense. There was a good one about awkward moments and another about L & P.We worked our way slowly through the year 4's,5's and 6's and then it was time for the year sevens. I walked up onto the stage with the other year sevens feeling so nervous I thought I would explode. I sat down on the seats at the back of the stage but as soon as I did I was called up again. I was first. I walked to the front of the stage and waited for the bell.Ting a ling .I started speaking as I felt my cheeks go red. But the nervousness stayed. When I got to my third cue card I felt it disappear. This was actually fun! Three minutes and thirty seconds later the bell rang again, indicating that I only had thirty more seconds.I talked my way through my last cue cards, finishing with  Maya Angelou's quote-" people won't remember you for what you did or what you have... But how you made them feel." I felt a rush of relief and accomplishment as I sat back down. The other speeches went by in a blur.Soon it was time for the judges to decide so we all had some chocolate milk or tea and a biscuit while we waited. Then it was time. They presented awards to the year 4's,5's and 6's. A disappointing speech about a blobfish won for the year sevens but I got second! This was better than first because I didn't have to do my speech again! I liked the speech finals and although it was nerve- racking I would definitely do it again!
