Staff v Student Netball Game

On Friday 1st August, the A+B mixed netball team versed the staff in a game of netball.
As  you would think, there was quite a big height difference but the students persevered making some good intercepts, passes and shots, but so did (some of) the staff.
In the end,the teachers won 15-4, but team members from each team would beg to differ.
The real score was ?-6,but the staff did win either way due to Mr.Meads' amazing shooting skills.

Cultural festival

Hi, I'm Alice and last night was the cultural festival and Henry , Oliver , Ngakita and I performed in the kapahaka group it was really fun and we all sang really great. We were all expecting to do a haka but the people who ran the festival said no so we did a song called Lullaby  that we had practiced and it sounded really great. Me and Henry blew the shells so that was also a lot of fun and a great experience.

Hi I'm Michael and last night night I performed in the Pacifica group I thought there was a great passion in the performance . We performed a slap dance,a boys dance and a girls dance. Overall I thought we did really well In front of an audience that big and I had a lot of fun.

Hi, I'm Caitlin Cheese and last night I performed at the CBS Arena for the Korean Dance. It was really fun and I really enjoyed. All of us made mistakes but they were only little ones. I made a big mistake; I dropped my fan halfway through the performance and I'm pretty sure the camera was on me!! It was a great experience and I would definitely do it again. Mrs Clark was helping out the Korean Dancers and she was really helpful.

Sarah Wins Sumdog Comp, Room 5 comes Second!

Congratulations to Sarah who won the Christchurch Sumdog competition this week. A great achievement Sarah. We're all vey proud with your accurate maths!

Well done to all of you who made it into the top 100, but particularly to Sarah, Nikhil, Alex, and Isabella who made the top 10...a special mention needs to go to Alice who got the ball rolling in our class and inspired everyone to get stuck in!

Room 5 came second overall, beaten at the post by St Patricks school. Great work everyone on the class that was able to spend time on it at home and at school.

A great week of maths success!

Kapahaka performance

Yesterday was the first kapahaka performance we performed at our school hangi. A hangi is food like chicken beef and pigs heads cooked under ground. It takes a whole day to prepare the hangi. 3 and 1/2 hours for the food 4 and 1/2 hours to dig the hole and to prepare the veges, pigs heads, and the chicken and beef. Anyway back to kapahaka. Kapahaka is a Maori singing and action group. I was so nervous, so was my friend Danika but then after the first song it was really fun.
I felt really short behind the tall year 8's and I felt scared too.
That was my Thursday night bye everyone.
