Swimming Zones

On Tuesday Cara and Oliver went to swimming zones!
It was pretty hot and stuffy but we did pretty well, Cara came 6th in both her events and Oliver came 5th in his event.
In the releys the year 7 boys came 3rd and the year 7 girls came 2nd!
I think we did really well.

Kapa haka perform at Erin Simpson Show

15 students on their way to the recording of the Erin Simpson show. Kapa haka students. We were lucky enough to be asked to perform on the show. We were told to come into this sound proof room so we could calm down and practise. The camera people came and told us to go into the studio. Then we had a practice. Next it was the real go. I was on the shell...'blow blow blow' the song started. "You did a great job!" Erin said.
After, Dylan and Ngakita asked Mike if we could have some of his baking he said yes. It was bread and butter pudding and it was delicious. It was then time to come back To school.

New school jackets

The new Casebrook school jackets are here. They are navy blue with a maroon strip down the the side. they have warm lining on the inside and they have the school logo on them. They are just great. you can get them at school wear for $80.

Oliver's Caving Trip

Today we went to the arthurs pass cave stream with Henry and his dad, my dad plus Toma (a French guy) and me. We arrived only to see St. Andrews college lining up ready to go down into the cave. We quickly found a park and got out to get changed into polly props and wet suits. With helmets clipped we walked a
short distance down to the huge cave entrance.We continued down into the icy water.
"Hey look"said Henry's dad there's a fish. I just saw the mini trout dart off into the gloom. The water was now up to my waist, it was as cold as an icicle about to fall off an icy cliff face.
We trudged on through the icy water until we came to our first obstacle, a small water fall. We carried on under fallen boulders over small waterfalls in pitch darkness only with the light of our small head torches. When it had only felt like 10 minutes (which was actually an hour) we came to a huge waterfall with a steel ladder on the side of it. I knew it was the end and I climbed out happily. Me ,Craig, Henry, my dad and toma all had a great day!!!

The New Room 5 Logo!

Here is the Room 5 Logo as voted by the class. It was created by Tai-iba and the students are really proud of her. It was a tough decison as there were some really cool options, particularly, Mina's one but all in all we're happy to have such an excellent logo to represent the people in our classroom. You can expect to see this on our Room 5 wall, door, blog and anything else connected with Room 5.

If there's one way to get high praise from a teacher the traditional apple is a great start. But if you want to really make an impression, the apple cake option is easily the better way! Thanks Mina!

‘Sticky Stars Duets’ is a massive karaoke singing competition for kids aged 10-16 years old. The Sticky TV team travel with their caravan all round New Zealand, filming kids for the first heats of the competition. The audience at home watch the auditions on the show and vote for their favourite singing duet online. At the end of the year, the eventual finalists are all flown to Auckland to compete in a final karaoke sing-off - in front of a live audience! The winning pair will take away a PS3 each plus a wireless SingStar microphone and a back-catalogue of all the SingStar games.
