Room 5 Party Political Broadcasts

We have looked intensively at the language used in political campaigns in Room 5, leading up to the NZ election. The students have created their own parties to campaign and created advertisements one might find on TV. Enjoy the simple, effective, and sometimes slightly worrying ideas for change in our country…

Irish Debate (Last week)

The girls took out a very tight debate win in the Room 5 Irish debate last week.
The moot was "Guns should be made legal for all ages to carry and every 13 year old should get on on their 13th birthday".
Well done ladies on expressing their affirmative point of view.

Happy Birthday Caitlin!

Production Rehearsal Getting Serious!

60 Second Macbeth

We have been studying the 'Scottish play' this term. As part of the assessment tasks for this the students were asked to show their understanding of the key events of the play by performing a retelling or a scene from Macbeth in 60 seconds…not easy at all! Here are the first efforts. The rest are to come soon!

Band quest

On Friday Henry,Aaron, Matt and I went with the rest of Ace of Spades (our rockband) to the Aurora Centre to perform at bandquest. We arrived at 4.15 for a rehearsal in front of the other bands and got a little bit of mentoring. Then at 7.00 people started arriving for a 7.30 start. The stage looked really cool with the multi- coloured lights and a smoke machine but instead of it making us excited, the nerves kicked in. Finally after several hours it was our turn to perform. Walking onto the stage was really exciting with the crowd cheering. As we got ready Chris (the m.c) introduced us. Then we were ready to play our first song; One day by Opshop. We began and the crowd went wild. The next song we played was Mercy which felt incredible to perform. At the breakdown in the song we got the audience clapping along,it was awesome. As it concluded we walked off the stage. When we got backstage our excitement levels were through the roof!
